Solo Exhibition, RFW Showroom, Shibuya, Tokyo - 20-27/10/22

’CULTURE CLASH’ was the first solo exhibition in Japan by Mark James. The work inspired by numerous visits to Japan over the last 20 years. Taking Japanese cultural icons and reworking them in his own unique style. The show, which was supported by Wales Arts International, featured new and existing pieces, including collage based artwork, using James’ signature style of manipulating garbage bags to create new forms. From a black garbage bag Tanuki, to a samurai helmet made from pharmaceutical packaging.

The show ran from 20th to 27th October at the RFW Showroom in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. With an opening reception on Friday 21st October. With very special guest DJ, Mr. Kurino of United Arrows.
